Once upon a time … a historic hotel in Saint Tropez
The Hotel de Paris Saint Tropez is located right by the stunning Mediterranean shoreline and sparkling waters that have made the village of St Tropez the summer epicenter of the international jet-set. Inaugurated in 1931, the Hotel de Paris was first the gathering place for most artists at the time. There, they drew their inspiration for their next masterpiece. Among them, Mistinguett and Clark Gable accounted for returning visitors.
Later on, in the 1950s, the Hotel became the meeting place of writers and thinkers, escaping the Parisian life. One could say that the establishment honored its name. It was truly the Hotel le Paris, welcoming great names such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Boris Vian, Juliette Gréco and of course, the delightful Brigitte Bardot. No one better than her has helped anchored the reputation of this small French village.
A few years later, after being topped by a third floor, the Hotel de Paris underwent a full renovation. Under the direction of François Vieillecroze (architect) and Sybille de Margerie (decorator), many transformations have turned the 1930s hotel into the modern and chic establishment it is today. As a tribute to the Mediterranean and the iconic actresses of the 1960s, the hotel was remodeled with original photographs of the St Tropez celebrities and glamorous paintings.
